Thailand , formerly known as Siam, officially the Kingdom of Thailand. Is the world's 51st-largest country in terms of total area, with around 64 million people. The capital and largest city is Bangkok.

Thailand is largely tropical, with temperatures in the 28-35°C range. However, note three seasons:

- Hot: From March to June, not the best time of year to go temple-tramping in Bangkok.
- Rainy: From July to October, tropical monsoons hit most of the country.
